hping wiki

Round Trip Time. A measure of the delay between hosts. Consists of the time taken for a single packet to leave one machine, reach the other and return. First versions of hping3 where very bad to measure RTT because there was the need to do polling to check for incoming packets of a specified type.
After the introduction of BPF filters and the hping event command this problem is gone and the error should be in the order of 1 or 2 milliseconds.
